Collect race results

Gathering and cleaning: capture results from DataRide, join races that changed name, set race names and find race links. To read what has been collected, see Races.

Capture the point-scoring results of each race from DataRide (UCI's results site), one race at a time across the years. Every capture keeps only the rows that score points.

1. Drag this link to your bookmarks bar: Capture UCI race 2. Open the DataRide competition list, pick a season and a category (Men Elite, Women Elite) with the page's own filters and press the bookmark. It pages through the whole list by itself and fills the queue with every race, its class and its dates; the editions of a race are lined up by name across the years. 3. Open a race from the queue (it opens the competition page) and press the bookmark: it opens every closed stage row and notes the race's events. Then open each event that gives points (the General Classification, each Stage Classification; not the points or youth rankings) and press the bookmark again: it reads the table and goes on to the next page of the table while every row scored. 4. Press Download collection in the bookmark's box, and open the file here. The bookmark clicks only the page's own buttons, one at a time with a pause, never leaves the page, and has a Stop button; it sends no requests of its own.

Same race, different names

A race that gained or dropped a sponsor in its name shows as two rows. Find joins lists the likely pairs (one name starts the other, and the years do not overlap) for you to decide, one by one: Same race, Not the same or Don't know. It lists the category chosen in the Category box above, so men's and women's are never mixed. Do it once after capturing a season. Same-race pairs are written as lines in the box below, not-the-same pairs are remembered and not suggested again, and Don't know leaves the pair for next time. You can also write a line yourself: old name = name it continues as. A race with more than two names takes one longer line, first name = second name = third name = the name it continues as: every name before the last is joined into the last. Lines starting with # are notes.

Race names

Every race has an internal name, what the database calls it, and the external names UCI used for it in each year. By default the internal name is the shortest name without sponsors. Find a race by any of its names to change it.

Race links

Official site, Wikipedia, social media and FirstCycling for each race. Find links asks Wikidata about the World Tour races of the category chosen above, one race at a time, and shows what it found for you to check: Same race, Not the same or Don't know. A race's links can also be added or removed by hand on its card under Race names.

Everything is kept in the shared database (see the Data page). v0.1.0 (db55b20)
